Anne Carr

Australia Training Team

I was born and raised in Dunedin, New Zealand where I lived until completing Teacher’s College and most of my University degree. It was during these years of study that I came to know Jesus and I was baptized at the age of nineteen.

I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was sixteen and it has proven to be a source of delight for me. My first five years of teaching took me to the city of Invercargill, New Zealand. However, wanting to learn more about Christianity, I took a year off teaching and went to a Bible College in Sydney, Australia. It was there that I met my future husband. I moved to Newcastle, Australia after my marriage, completed my degree and worked alongside my husband, who was an evangelist. All my Christian life I have been blessed with being able to teach children’s classes and adult women’s bible classes as well as help mentor and disciple people young in the faith.

After the birth of my two children, we worked briefly with a congregation in Canberra, Australia before helping establish a church plant in the city of Wollongong, Australia. Circumstances brought us back to Newcastle Australia, and once my children were of school age I taught full-time until my retirement in 2019.

My children married and I have four grandchildren aged between 11 years- 18 months of age.

I moved to Adelaide, Australia after my retirement and still teach part-time in a Government school. I appreciate that I have been blessed with a career that still inspires and thrills me.

I am an active member of a dynamic church in the suburb of Elizabeth, Adelaide. It was here that I discovered the Jobs for Life Program from a dear friend in America. I believed this program would work here. After much prayer and planning Mark Zerna and I embarked upon being trained and beginning our journey with JfL here in the Northern Suburbs of Adelaide. We are about to begin our fourth program in May of this year. It was witnessing how transformational JfL can be that motivated us to be trained to become National Trainers. It is my prayer that our experiences can be replicated in other states and cities across Australia.
